Joining the Society

The Society was founded in 1906. Its aims are to collect, preserve, interpret and make know the folk-songs of Wales, to publish examples and to promote research on the literary and musical background of the songs, as well as fostering interest in folk song and folk literature in general.

Canu Gwerin, the Society’s journal, appears every August, and there is an annual meeting for lectures, discussion and song as well as a lecture at the National Eisteddfod. Volumes of songs and arrangements are also published. The language of the Society is Welsh, but there is some information available in English on our bilingual website www.canugwerin.org

The annual subscription is £10 for adults, £12 for couples, and £3 for students and children. It would be a great help if you would use the banker’s order and also complete the Gift Aid Declaration, which increases your subscription at no additional cost to you.
